Late Rally Not Enough as Eagles Fall on the Road

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – Once again the Eagles fell behind early and couldn’t dig themselves out, falling to Alice Lloyd 79-70 on Thursday night.  Asbury trailed by as much as 11 in the first half before cutting the lead to 4 at halftime.  They would tie it once in the second half.

Laura Carroll led the Eagles with 18 points and seven assists, 12 of her points came in the second half as the Eagles continued to keep the game close.  The Eagles shot over 48% in the second half but allowed Alice Lloyd to shoot an even better 52%. 

Lakin Griffith added yet another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Ellen Gray was also in double-figures with 11 points.  Asbury might have been able to take the lead in the second half but struggled from the foul line.

The Eagles were only 14-of-21 from the charity stripe in the game and 8-of-13 in the second half as they continuously attacked the basket.  Alice Lloyd also struggled from the line, allowing Asbury to hang around by making only 11-of-18.

Asbury will have to travel in the first round of the KIAC Tournament on Tuesday February 22nd.  Time and opponent are yet to be determined.
