Poor second half dooms Eagles

WILMORE, Ky. – A 23-6 run to start the second half allowed Pikeville to pull away from the Eagles in an 84-58 win for the Lady Bears.  Asbury trailed by only one, 38-37 at the half before shooting only 18% in the second half.

Asbury (4-8) had no answer for Natiera Hinton who nearly had a triple-double with 21 points, 17 rebounds, and seven assists.  Pikeville (7-2) shot 63% in the second half and 53% for the game, the Eagles were 28% for the game.

Laura Carroll led the Eagles with 16 points and Ellen Gray chipped in with 13.  The Eagles kept pace in the first half closing an eight point lead down to one in the final minute.  Both Carroll (12) and Gray (10) were in double figures in the first half. 

Asbury grabbed 35 rebounds in the game while the Lady Bears collected 50.  Once again the margin was close at halftime as the Eagles had 18 and Pikeville had 21. 

The Eagles will host the Zweifel/Pritchett Classic this Friday at Saturday.  Asbury will play Friday at 6:00 pm and Saturday at 4:00 pm.
