Asbury can't hold second half lead
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury’s women’s couldn’t hold on to a 15 point second half lead as Tennessee Wesleyan out scored the Eagles 34-11 over the final 14 minutes for a 63-55 win. Tennessee Wesleyan won the first meeting between these two teams back in November by 19.
Asbury (5-9) took a nine point lead into halftime with stellar defense, forcing the Lady Bulldogs into 22% shooting. The Eagles went cold in the second half shooting 29% in the half, Asbury shot 4-for-21 once they took a 15 point lead. The Lady Bulldogs shot 58% in the second half and knocked down five of their six threes.
Lakin Griffith led the Eagles with 11 points and Ellen Gray added 10. Laura Carroll had nine points and four assists. Brislyn Sizemore finished with six rebounds and four points. Heather Gibson led Tennessee Wesleyan with 17 points and Candace Cain added 13 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs pulled down 40 rebounds while Asbury grabbed 33. The Eagles were able to protect the ball with only 13 turnovers, TWC turned it over 14 times.
Asbury will host Ohio Christian on Friday November 17th at 7:00 pm before heading to Puerto Rico for two games.
