Eagles fall to Union

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Eagles turned the ball over 27 times as Union pulled away for a 100-74 win on Tuesday night.  Asbury kept it close in the first half but the Lady Bulldogs capitalized on 17 first half turnovers and took a 12 point lead into the half.

Laura Carroll led Asbury (3-5) with 19 points on nine-of-12 shooting.  The Eagles shot the ball well when they didn’t turn it over, knocking down 50% from the floor.  Union shot 58% for the game and 71% in the second half.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 12 three-pointers.

Wendi Messer led five players in double-figures for Union with 22 points.  She also led the team with six rebounds. 

Lakin Griffith led Asbury with six rebounds and also chipped in with 10 points.  The Eagles won the battle on the boards 30-27 including 10 on the offensive glass.  10 different players scored for Asbury.

Asbury will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan College for an exhibition contest on Thursday at 6:00 pm.  They will open their home slate on Monday November 22nd against St. Catharine.
