Eagles Bounce Back With Win

Grayson, Ky. - The Eagles bounced back after a tough loss at Midway on Tuesday with a 56-50 win on the road at Kentucky Christian on Thursday night.  Asbury also won the first meeting this season at home 74-60 making this the first season sweep of the Lady Knights.

Asbury (10-12) have won three of their last four overall with seven games remaining.  Dorian Downs (Elizabethtown, Ky.) led the Eagles with 15 points off the bench, including knocking down five threes.  She also had a team high four assists.  Laura Carroll (Paintsville, Ky.) added 12 points and hit four-of-four from the foul line.  Asbury was six-of-eight from the charity stripe on the night.  Courtney Albin would add 10 points off the bench.

Both teams struggled in the first period as Asbury shot only 37% but held KCU to 25% as the Eagles took a 26-21 lead into the break.  The Lady Knights would get hot in the second half, shooting 59% from the floor, but struggled all night from beyond the arc.  KCU would hit just one-of-six from three point range while Asbury knocked down four in each half and shot 40% for the game from downtown.

Lakin Griffith would lead the Eagles with seven rebounds, Asbury pulled down 30 while KCU grabbed 31.  Griffith also blocked two shots and scored five points.  Meredith Reed led the Lady Knights with 12 points and Autumn Carter added 11 off the bench.

Asbury will travel to Owensboro, Kentucky for an important KIAC tilt with Brescia on Saturday at 2:00 pm eastern.  The Eagles currently sit in 6th place with a 3-5 conference mark with Brescia at 5th at 4-5.
