Slide Continues As Eagles Fall to Brescia

>Wilmore, Ky. - The Asbury women raced out to an early lead against Brescia but couldn't hold it in the second half, falling 69-57 on Tuesday night in the Luce Center.  The Eagles led by as much as seven in the first half and were up four at halftime.

Asbury (7-11, 1-4 KIAC) went cold in the second half just as the Bearcats started to heat up.  The Eagles made only 27% in the second half while allowing Brescia to knock down 56%.  Both teams couldn't do much from the outside as Brescia hit only three-of-17 from three-point range and Asbury was two-of-19.  There was only one lead change in the game and Asbury got down by as much as 14 late in the second half.

Lakin Griffith (Sandy Hook, Ky.) led the Eagles with her first career double-double, totaling 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Asbury made a concerted effort to keep Brescia off the boards and were able to execute that, bringing down 47 rebounds compared to 39 fro Brescia.  Laura Carroll (Paintsville, Ky.) nearly had a double-double of her own with 11 points and eight rebounds, she added a game-high five assists as well.  Hayley Spivey (Harrodsburg, Ky.) was also in double-figures with 11 points off the bench.

Asbury has dropped four straight and seven of eight to drop their record a season worst four games under .500.  The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday night in Pippa Passes as they take on Alice Lloyd on Thursday January 28th at 6:00 pm.  They will return home on Saturday January 30th against St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 1:00 pm on Think Pink Day to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness.
