Eagles Pick Up First Win of Season

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury's women picked up their first win of the season defeating Virginia Intermont 74-62 in the Zweifel/Pritchett Classic.  Asbury was led by sophomore Courtney Albin's 20 points.

Asbury (1-2) fought back from an early deficit to take a 37-30 halftime lead that they would never relinquish.  The Eagles used the three-point shot effectively, knocking down nine-of 22 in the game.  Albin hit four-of-nine from long range.  Freshman Laura Carroll added 16 and sophomore Ellen Gray was also in double figures with 10 as ten Eagles scored.

After getting pounded on the glass on Friday, the Eagles pulled down 39 rebounds, the exact same as the Cobras.  Freshman Keira Henderson pulled down a team-high nine.  Asbury got several solid contributions off the bench as 14 players saw the floor.  Chelsea Williams came in and knocked down two threes and dished out a team high four assists.  Lyndsay Figgins added six points in 11 minutes off the bench and Henderson added six points.

The Eagles will get another chance at Union College in a week span as they host the Bulldogs Tuesday at 8:00 pm.  The game will follow the men's game against Free Will Baptist at 6:00 pm.
