Eagles Lose Halftime Lead, Game

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury lost an eight point halftime lead and fell to the Cougars from Cincinnati-Clermont 74-71 on Monday night.  The Eagles lost their touch after intermission and allowed UCC to go to the free thrown line 23 times where they connected on 19.Womens Basketball

Asbury (5-4) shot 37% in the second half compared to 47% in the first half, and they hit only two-of-nine three point attempts in the second half compared to five-of-12 in the first half.  The Cougars shot 54% from the field in the second half and were 28-of-37 from the line in the game.

Courtney Albin (Hartford, Ky.) led the Eagles with 18 points knocked down four threes.  Albin also had three steals in 28 minutes.  Freshman Laura Carroll (Paintsville, Ky.) was also in double figures with 12 points on six-of-13 shooting.  She led the team with five assists.

The Eagles cut the lead to one with a three pointer by Albin with 13 seconds left.  Two free throws by the Cougars pushed the lead back to three with ten seconds left.  Albin missed a deep three and got her own rebound and her desperation heave as time expired wasn't close.  The Eagles held the biggest lead of the game at 32-19 in the first half but once the Cougars took the lead they never gave it up.

Asbury will be back in action after Thanksgiving break, hosting Kentucky Christian University on Tuesday December 1st at 7:00 pm.
