Eagles Extend Winning Streak to Five

Wilmore, KY----The Asbury Women's basketball team entered Saturday's game with a four game winning streak and was looking to make it five against St. Mary of the Woods (2-20). Asbury (11-14) jumped out to an 18-0 lead in the first five minutes and from that point cruised on to an 84-60 win.

Asbury connected on its first nine field goal attempts and shot an impressive 47.6 percent from the field for the game. Asbury also won the rebounding battle 42-35 and forced 19 turnovers. Asbury was led by its two leading scorers, Courtney Albin and Ellen Gray, who scored 22 and 21 points respectively. Both freshman made 4 three point field goals each and shot over 50 percent from the field. In addition to her 22 points, Courtney had 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Senior Anna Stephenson chipped in with 15 points and 3 rebounds and is now 8 points away from becoming the sixth 1,000 point scorer in Asbury history.

Asbury will look to extend its winning streak once again on the road against Alice Lloyd on February 10 at 6 pm.
