Eagles Earn Huge Road Victory, Stephenson Eclipses 1,000 Points

Pippa Passes, KY---The Asbury College women extended their winning streak to a season high six games with a 76-71 road win at Alice Lloyd on Tuesday February 10th.  Asbury would outscore the host Eagles 7-2 in the final two minutes to pull out the road victory.

Asbury (12-14, 3-3 KIAC) would lead almost the entire game as there were only two lead changes and three ties.  Alice Lloyd tied the game at 69 with just over two minutes remaining when Sierra Wynn hit a three pointer, their seventh of the half.  Asbury would respond when Hayley Spivey stole the ball and went to the rim for a layup.  Courtney Albin would follow that up with a steal and layup of her own to push the lead to four.  Albin would follow that by making one of two from the line to bring the Eagles the road win.

Albin would lead all scorers with 23 pointson 9-of-14 shooting and hitting 2-of-3 from three-point range.  Ellen Gray would add 16 points and three 3-pointers despite playing most of the game in foul trouble.  Anna Stephenson eclipsed 1,000 career points in the first half by scoring 10 of her 12.  She also led the team with eight rebounds.  Spivey was also in double figures with 11 points and six rebounds.

Asbury would out rebound the host Eagles 38-32 and get to the free throw line 35 times, hitting 21.  Alice Lloyd would only get to the line 17 times hitting 12.  Asbury took a four point lead (38-34) into halftime and continued to control the game despite Alice Lloyd hitting their first seven 3-pointers of the half.

Asbury will hit the road again on Thursday as they travel to Indiana Southeast to battle the 1st place Grenadiers at 7pm.
