Eagles Snap Skid, Defeat CCU
Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College women's basketball team snapped their three game losing streak on Saturday with a 66-57 win over Cincinnati Christian University. Asbury had previously lost seven of eight before Saturday's win.
Asbury (6-10) was led by Senior Anna Stephenson's double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Stephenson filled out her stat line with a team leading four assists and six blocks. The Eagles were led in scoring by freshmen Hanna Blankenship's 15, Courtney Albin chipped in with 12.
Asbury only shot 36% from the floor in the game but their defense forced CCU into shooting only 28% for the game. Asbury took a 32-21 halftime lead but saw it evaporate quickly as CCU turned up the pressure. The Eagles in turn added defensive pressure of their own led by Stephenson. The Eagles also had 17 steals on the game, Albin led the way with five.
Asbury remains at home to take on former KIAC member Spalding at 7:00pm on Tuesday January 13th in the Luce Center.
