Eagles Fall to Spalding

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College women's basketball team fell to Spalding University 67-60 on Tuesday night in the Luce Center.  The Eagles could not hold a 27-26 halftime lead even though they shot 60% in the 2nd half.

Asbury (6-11) was led by freshmen Ellen Gray's 16 points including four three-point field goals.  Anna Stephenson was the only other Eagle in double figures with 10 points.  Asbury was out rebounded by 17, 40-23 and had five players with a team high of three, Stephenson, Gray, Courtney Albin, Brooke Jensen, and Hayley Spivey.

Asbury turned the ball over 22 times, but it was fouls that hurt them on this night.  Asbury had 15 fouls in each half and put the Golden Eagles on the line 34 times.  Spalding would only convert 56%, 19-34, but Asbury couldn't capitalize down the stretch.

Asbury continues their home stretch with the beginning of conference play Thursday January 15th at 7pm against Berea.
