Eagles Drop '09 Opener

Wilmore, KY----The Asbury College women's basketball team dropped their first game of 2009 to the University of Cincinnati-Clermont Wednesday night in the Luce Center 66-74.  The Eagles shot only 41% in the game and turned the ball over 23 times. 

Asbury (5-10) was led by freshmen Christy Gemmell's 17 points, 10 coming from the free throw line.  Fellow freshmen Ellen Gray and Courtney Albin added 16 and 12 respectively.  Senior Anna Stephenson was also in double figures with 10.  Stephenson and Albin both grabbed seven rebounds to lead the team.  Junior Sarah Yates, who got her first start of the season, led the team with four assists. 

Asbury will return to action Saturday January 10th at 2pm to take on Cincinnati Christian University at home in the Luce Center.
