Eagles Secure Late Win in Pritchett Classic

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College women's basketball team picked up a hard fought win on day two of the Pritchett Classic, Saturday December 6, beating Principia College 59-56.  The Eagles snap a season-worst four game losing streak in the process.

Asbury (5-7) was led once again by a couple of freshmen.  Courtney Albin had a team-high 19 and Ellen Gray added 18.  Those two combined for 13 of the team's 22 field goals and four of five 3-pointers.  Gray knocked down two big free throws with less than 10 seconds on the clock to seal the win for the Eagles.  

The Eagles were out rebounded 38-32 thanks in large part to Christina Speer who had 26 points and 19 boards for the Panthers.  Asbury was led by Gray and senior Anna Stephenson who pulled down six rebounds a piece.  Gray also was tied for the team lead with fellow freshmen Christy Gemmell with three assists.  Albin led the defensive effort with five steals.

The Eagles will travel to Batavia, Ohio to take on the University of Cincinnati-Clermont Tuesday December 9 at 7pm.  They will return home to take on St. Catharine's Thursday December 11 at 6pm as part of a double header with the guys.  Live stats will be provided for Thursday's game.
