Women Fall on the Road

St. Catharine, KY---The Asbury College women's basketball team suffered another tough loss on the road, falling to St. Catharine's College 78-68 on Tuesday night.  The Eagles are now 0-5 in road games this season.

Asbury (4-6) fell behind big early, as they went to the locker room down 15, 35-20.  The Eagles would battle back in the second closing the gap to four at 64-60, but a 14-4 run by St. Catharine's ended the game and the Eagles' chances.  Senior Anna Stephenson led the team with 19 points and six blocks.  Freshmen Ellen Gray, who started for the first time this season, scored 15 and pulled down a team leading six rebounds.  Fellow freshmen Hanna Blankenship added 11 points and two steals.

The Eagles shot significantly better in the second half, sinking 50% of their shots as opposed to 27% in the first half.  Asbury also got to the line in the second half, knocking down 15/18 to lead the comeback attempt.

The Eagles will be off for the Holiday and return to action at home on December 5th and 6th as they host the Rita Pritchett Classic.  Asbury will open up play on Friday at 6pm against pre-season #5 Shawnee State (Ohio) with Berea and Principia to follow at 8pm.  Asbury will then take on Principia on Saturday at 3pm with Berea and Shawnee State hooking up for a 1pm contest.
