Women's basketball works double overtime in win over Alice Lloyd
Wilmore, KY - Amanda Bechtel earned her fifth foul of the game in double overtime, putting Asbury in peril of falling to Alice Lloyd as Whitney Frazier would go to the line with the Eagles nursing an 88-87 lead. Frazier would miss both foul shots and Anna Stephenson came out with the rebound to touch off a wild celebration at mid-court.
The win puts Asbury at 2-1 in conference play, even at 9-9 overall. The fun only began in regulation as the Eagles would take a 72-69 lead after a personal foul and technical by Alice Lloyd's Taran Cody. Bechtel would stride to the line, making three of four and then Anna Stephenson would make one of two after a turnover. Alice Lloyd would inbound the ball, connecting on a three-pointer by Kaylan Richardson, sending the game to the first overtime later setting the stage for the second overtime ending.
Anna Stephenson led Asbury with 28 points and 13 rebounds. The freshman duo of Bechtel and Allison Smith once again teamed for 25 points in leading the Eagles to the win.
