Tough first half dooms the WBB at Marian

Asbury shot 18.2 percent from the field (4-22) in the first half, dooming them to a 44-14 halftime deficit in a 70-49 loss at Marian College in Indianapolis on Saturday.

The Eagles' shooting woes put them down 25-5 after only making one shot from the field in the first 13:11 of play. Asbury would rally in the second half, shooting 40 percent from the field (10-25) as well as going 13-of-19 from the free throw line. The Eagles actually closed the 30-point deficit down to 12 points thanks to a pair of free throws by Lauren Lee with 6:09 remaining before Marian's Megan Egenolf would connect from three-point range pushing the lead back out to 15.

The loss drops Asbury to 4-6 on the season. They will return to action this weekend hosting the 2nd annual Rita Pritchett Classic on Friday and Saturday. The games begin with Alice Lloyd taking on Mid-Continent in the first game at 6:00 on Friday followed by Asbury against UC-Clermont at 8:00 p.m. The games Saturday are set for a 1:00 tipoff between Alice Lloyd and UC-Clermont with Asbury and Mid-Continent set to go at 3:00 p.m. Both Asbury games can be heard on WACW, the school's campus network and home for Asbury athletics.
