WBB drops two close losses at UVA Wise Classic
Asbury vs. Montreat

Asbury dug themselves into a 33-18 halftime deficit and never could recover in a 75-63 loss to Montreat (N.C.) in the Eagles' Friday game of the UVA Wise Classic in Wise, Va. Asbury shot 8-of-29, 27.6% from the field in the first half while Montreat blistered the nets shooting 14-of-26 for 53.8%.
The Eagles were led in scoring by sophomore Sarah Yates with 12 points while adding five assists and only two turnovers. She was joined in double figures by Brittany Abbott with 11, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
Asbury vs. UVA Wise

Asbury would take a 33-32 lead into the half in their game on Saturday with host UVA Wise, but a three-pointer by Wise's Brittany Maxwell with 7:10 remaining broke a 55-55 tie and sent UVA Wise on to the win. The Eagles had their chances down the stretch closing the margin to a single point at 68-67 after back-to-back layups by Anna Stephenson and Brittany Abbott with 1:55 remaining. Wise would answer back with one of two free throws by Maxwell and then a critical three-point play by Megan Rutherford to give Asbury back the ball down 72-67 with only :47 left.
Lindsey Wood recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Brittany Abbott led all scorers with 17 points while freshman Brooke Jensen joined Wood in double figures in rebounding with 10.
The setbacks drop Asbury to 3-4 on the season. The women return to action at home on Tuesday, November 20th against Transylvania (Ky.). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
