WBB downs UVA Wise, 72-61

Lindsey Wood and Anna Stephenson register double-doubles each as Asbury prevails with tough defense and solid free throw shooting down the stretch in a 72-61 win over UVA-Wise.
Wood led the team with 26 points, including five three-point field goals and 7-of-8 shooting from the line. Stephenson chimed in with 21, including a 9-of-13 performance from the line to secure Asbury's win in a rematch with the Highland Cavaliers.

The Eagles set the table in the first half, thanks to Brittany Abbott's shooting 3-of-4 from behind the arc, scoring all of her 13 points in the opening half, posting
Asbury to a 38-35 lead. As a team the Eagles shot 50% from both the field, 13-of-26, and from three-point range, 6-of-12.
The second half featured a drop off in shooting percentages but the Eagles secured the win from the line, going 14-of-19 including 9-of-10 to turn a 63-61 lead with 2:19 left into the final score.
The win puts Asbury at 4-5 on the season. The Eagles are next in action this Saturday at Marian (Ind.) College in Indianapolis. The game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
