Late rally too little in OT loss for WBB

WILMORE - Asbury trailed 68-53 with 9:05 left on the clock but would answer with an immediate 15-2 run over the next 4:11 to rally within two, eventually heading into overtime but the rally proved to take too much out of the Eagles in a 90-84 overtime loss.

Transy lead to 70-66, Anna Stephenson would finish in the lane to bring Asbury to within two at 70-68 with only 4:54 left.

 

The Eagles would continue the run, eventually gaining the lead at 76-75 with 2:20 left after two Stephenson free throws. Back and forth the teams would go with Amber Morrison giving Transy a 77-76 lead followed by another Wood three pointer to provide Asbury with a 79-77 advantage. The Pioneers would score the next four points on two free throws and a steal and bucket by Brittany Henderlight for an 81-79 Pioneer lead with 0:39 left. Wood would answer with two free throws for Asbury to tie the game and the Eagles would hold Transy to no shot on the last possession of regulation.

The Eagles would show tired legs in overtime, going 1-of-5 from the field, 1-of-3 from the line as Transy would secure the win from the line, going 5-of-7 from the stripe to secure the 90-84 win.

The loss sends Asbury to 3-5. The Eagles will next be in action on Tuesday, November 27th against UVA-Wise. Gametime is set for 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard on WACW , the campus radio station and home of Asbury Athletics.
