Women's Basketball breaks for winter after split at TFC Classic

The Eagles suffered a 76-61 setback at the hands of Atlanta Christian, but rallied on Saturday to defeat host Toccoa Falls, 67-49. Anna Stephenson led the Eagles in scoring against Atlanta with 18 points, while also grabbing 13 rebounds. Cold shooting doomed the team as they shot 32.3% (21-65) from the floor, including 7-of-28 from three-point range. The Eagles also committed 26 turnovers, leading to 23 Atlanta Christian points.

The team would rebound against Toccoa, limiting their turnovers to 15 total, but only marginally improving their shooting touch, hitting 38.0% (27-71) of their field goals. Lindsey Wood poured in 23 points, while Stephenson recorded her second double-double in as many days, going for 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The split leaves Asbury at 5-4 overall headed into the winter break. The Eagles return to the court to face Berea on the road on Monday, January 8th at 7:00 p.m. They will make their first home appearance of the spring semester on Thursday, January 18th when they host Cincinnati Christian. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
