Women start strong, finish strong in win over Spalding, 67-55

Spalding would score the game's first points on a three-point basket, but Asbury would answer with 21 of the game's next 24 points, taking a 21-6 lead and never looked back, winning 67-55 in first round action at the KIAC Tournament on Thursday. Sarah Yates led all scorers with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Anna Stephenson and Lindsey Wood joined in double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively. The Eagles held a 44-29 edge in rebounding in advancing to today's semifinal game against top-seeded Alice Lloyd. The game is set for tip-off at 8:00 p.m.
