Sterling Named Honorable Mention All-American
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Junior Sarah Sterling, who led the Eagles' volleyball team in kills, kills per set, and attacking percentage this season, was named an Honorable Mention Tachikara All American for the 2013 season.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America teams, as chosen by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee, Monday. Each team—first, second and third—consists of 14 members. Sterling was honored as an Honorable Mention selection.
Sterling finished the season ranked 26th in the NAIA with 470 kills and 34 in hitting percentage at 0.329 percent. She reached a career milestone of 1,000 kills this season as well. She currently sits 6th in Asbury history on career kills with 1172, 4th in attack pct (0.290) and 6th in kills per game with 2.70. She is also 10th in total points at 1280.5.
Texas at Brownsville senior outside hitter Danica Markovic, a Subotica, Serbia, native, was selected as the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Player of the Year.
