First-Team Academic All-District Honors Go To Kelly Cole
WILMORE, Ky. - Asbury University women's volleyball libero Kelly Cole has been named to the Capital One Academic All District 2 First Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon.
The honor is Cole's second as a four-year starter on the court for the Eagles. The honor also means that Cole will advance to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America consideration.
To be nominated for the award a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a scale of 4.0. Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in 50 percent of the team's matches at that position.
Cole is the epitome of a qualified candidate. Her 4.0 GPA in her elementary education degree and her domination on the court as a libero make her a primed candidate. Back in September Cole became the Asbury volleyball all-time digs leader and this season ranks in the top-5 for digs per game and total digs in the NAIA.
Cole has helped her team to a 32-7 record this season and is averaging 5.8 digs per game for 731 total.
The Eagles will enter postseason play with their next game set for Friday, November 15th. They will travel to Midway for the conference tournament.
