Eagles Pick Up Two Wins in West Virginia
MONTGOMERY, W.Va. - Two-hundred and twenty miles from their home court, the Asbury Eagles dominated in their matches against Southern State Community College and West Virginia Tech on Saturday.
They cruised to a win versus SSCC with 25-1, 25-2, and 25-8 wins. A few hours later, the Eagles handled the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears with the same care, winning 25-15, 25-15, and 25-17.
The Eagles gave up just 11 points to SSCC in what was the Eagle’s seventh win in a row.
Junior Sarah Sterling and senior Allison Rehner 9 kills each in that game. Sophomore Kelli Crouse and junior Maddie Lewis had 4 and 3 aces, respectively.
Senior Kelly Cole had another good game on the defensive side of things with 13 digs, and senior Cari McMullen had 5 of her own. Senior Mackenzie Burke had 27 assists, while junior Jessie Bartlow added 10.
With a win against the Golden Bears the Eagles clinched their eighth straight win.
The Eagles have not lost a game since Sept. 14, when they lost to Indiana University Southeast. The Eagles will have a chance to play the Grenadiers again on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. with a home court advantage this time.
