WILMORE, Ky. - The purple and white-clad crowd roared in applause as junior Sarah Sterling spiked the ball, hitting the game-winning point and ultimately clinching the 3-0 win against KIAC opponent Brescia University Tuesday night.
Sterling pretty much had her way for much of the evening, collecting a game-high 16 kills on an attacking percentage of .500.
The Eagles made winning look easy, winning by 10 points in the first set, nine in the second, and seven in the final set as much of the Eagles' bench saw action in the third set. Though they made it close in the first few points of each set, the Bearcats seemingly didn’t have a chance against the teamwork and tenacity of the experienced Eagles and their spot on hitting.
Senior Mackenzie Burke ended the night with a game-high 27 assists while classmate Kelly Cole collected 15 digs. Catherine Wolter finished second on the team in kills with eight.
The Eagles improved to 4-1 in the KIAC and 11-6 overall as they extended their current win streak to six games.
The Eagles will travel to Berea tomorrow (9/25) for another KIAC matchup at 7 p.m.
