Volleyball Wins Both on Saturday, Finish Rumpke Tourney at 3-1
GEORGETOWN, Ky. -The Eagles are playing in the Rumpke Tournament at Georgetown this weekend.
Friday - vs. Union (Ky.)
The Eagles opened the Georgetown tournament- the first of four games this weekend- with a 3-0 sweep of Union (Ky.). The Eagles won in straight sets 25-22, 25-21, 25-12. Sarah Sterling led the team with 13 kills.
Senior setter Mackenzie Burke returned to the lineup for the first time this season and collected 20 assits to complement Jessie Bartlow's 14 helpers.
Friday- vs. Xavier (La.)
In their second game of the day the Eagles faced off against Xavier (La.) University in a rematch from their opening weekend tournament in which Xavier collected a 3-0 sweep of the Eagles. Saturday's rematch ended in similar fashion for the Eagles-- this time losing in four sets (25-21, 22-25. 17-25, 23-25).
In the fourth set, the Eagles led 19-13 before dropping the decision 25-23.
Saturday - vs. Bethel (Tenn.)
In their first matchup this season, the Eagles swept the Wildcats. In their second matchup--this time on Saturday--the Eagles repeated, sweeping the Wildats in straight sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-15).
Saturday - vs. St. Thomas
In what head coach JP Rader said was his team's "best game yet" the Eagles defeated St. Thomas in Saturday's final match of the Rumpke tournament in straight sets. The Eagles took the first set 25-17, won a marathon set 32-30, and sealed the deal with 25-19 victory in the third set.
