Sterling Named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sarah Sterling was named an Honorable Mention selection to the All-Northeast Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday.  Sterling was one of just four sophomores recognized as an honorable mention or on the all-region team. 

The 5-10 outside hitter from Owensboro, Ky. led Asbury in attack percentage (.304), kills (381) and attempts (.967).  Sterling also added 115 digs and 38 total blocks on the season.  She ranked fourth in the KIAC in attack percentage and fifth in kills.  Sterling recorded double-digit kills in 17 matches this season including a career-high 19 against Rio Grande on Sept. 8. 

Sterling helped lead the Eagles to a 27-12 mark and a third-place finish in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 7-3 record.  The Eagles reached the KIAC Tournament semi-finals.  Sterling was named to the All-KIAC team for the first time this season.
