Sterling, Cole Receive All-Conference Awards

Sarah SterlingCINCINNATI, Ohio – Asbury sophomore left-side hitter Sarah Sterling was named All-KIAC as voted on by the volleyball coaches.  Seven players were named to the first team and six, including junior libero Kelly Cole, were named to the second team.

Sterling led the Eagles with 381 kills during the season and hit a team-best .304.  The sophomore’s attack percentage ranked fourth in the KIAC.  During a run in early September, Sterling collected double-digit kills in seven straight matches including a career-high 19 kills against Rio Grande (Ohio).  She finished the season with 17 double-digit kill matches.  This was Sterling’s first time on the All-Conference team.

Cole led the Eagles with 696 digs over the course of the season, ranking third in the conference.  That number ranked 14th overall in the NAIA and her 5.1 digs per set  was second in the KIAC.  The junior also racked up 44 service aces during the year.

Asbury finished with a 27-12 record overall and a 7-3 mark in the KIAC.  The Eagles were third in the KIAC during the regular season and were knocked out of the KIAC Tournament in the semifinals by No. 24 Point Park.
