Cole Named Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District

Kelly ColeWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury junior libero Kelly Cole has been named a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as announced by the association on Thursday.  Cole is the first volleyball player to receive the award which combines academic performance and athletic ability.  Academic All-Americans will be announced in December.

Cole (Lexington, Ky.) currently ranks 15th in the NAIA in total digs with 666, she led the NAIA in 2011.  She will become the school leader with 87 more digs.  Cole has also tallied 43 service aces this season in 129 sets played.  She was a 2011 All-KIAC selection.

In the classroom Cole sports a 4.0 GPA in Elementary Education.  CoSIDA divides all colleges into four categories, NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III and College categories.  The College division encompasses all NAIA, NJCAA and Canadian schools.  Asbury is in District 4 along with all NAIA and NJCAA schools from Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee.  Cole was one of eight players picked by Sports Information Directors in that district.

The Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-Americans will be announced on December 10th.  To be eligible for this award student-athletes must maintain a 3.3 GPA and be at least a sophomore.
