Volleyball Sweeps Berea

Brittney RaderBEREA, Ky. – Asbury volleyball rebounded after a loss over the weekend with a three set victory over Berea on Tuesday, 25-12, 25-19, 25-18.  The Eagles have now won 11 of their last 12 after a 4-7 start.

Asbury (15-8, 3-2 KIAC) was led by Brittney Rader with 11 kills on 22 attacks.  Catherine Wolter continues her hot streak with 10 kills on 18 attacks.  The team hit .282, one of only seven times their attack percentage has been that high for an entire match.  The Eagles hit .321 in the first set as Rader, Wolter and Morgan Newton each recorded three kills.

Asbury tallied seven service aces in the match, led by Maddie Lewis’ three.  Mackenzie Burke added two of her own and also led the team with 22 assists.  Jessie Bartlow notched 11 assists.  Kelly Cole added 10 digs, her 10th straight match reaching double-digits.  Lewis also added eight digs.

Sarah Sterling notched five kills on only 16 attacks and did not commit an attack error.  The sophomore also led the Eagles block with three solo blocks.  Kaity Bradley added two solo and two block assists as the Eagles recorded 10 total blocks.

The Eagles will be back in action tonight as they travel to Kentucky State for a 7 pm first serve.  Asbury will host a tri-match on Saturday with KIAC foes No. 17 Indiana East and Carlow.  Asbury will play at 12 pm and 4 pm.
