Volleyball Finishes Perfect Weekend

Jessie BartlowHANOVER, Ind. – Asbury volleyball capped off a perfect weekend with a 3-0 victory over Manchester College and a 3-2 win over Hanover College in a tri-match hosted by Hanover.  The Eagles swept a tri-match against Brescia and St. Louis Pharmacy on Friday night in Owensboro.

On Saturday Sarah Sterling led the way with 26 combined kills, 17 against Hanover and nine against Manchester, both were match-highs respectively.  Brittney Rader also had nine kills against Hanover as the team hit .323 for the match.  Against Manchester it was Catherine Wolter who stepped up with 13 kills on 26 attempts. 

Kelly Cole recorded double-digit digs in each match with 13 against Manchester and 31 against Hanover.  Cole moved into second place on the career digs leader board as she becomes the third player to record over 1,700 digs.  Hannah Wheeler is the all-time leader with 2,134.

Mackenzie Bruke added 20 assists against Manchester and 29 against Hanover.  She also had two service aces in each match.  Jessie Bartlow added 11 assists against Manchester and 19 against Hanover.  She also had 11 digs in the Hanover match.

Asbury will head to Virginia-Wise on Tuesday before returning home to host Pikeville on Friday.
