Volleyball Pairings Set for NCCAA Nationals
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury’s volleyball team will travel to Kissimmee, Fla. for the NCCAA National Tournament as the seventh seed and placed into Pool B in the ten-team tournament. The teams will play a round-robin schedule beginning on December 1 with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the semi-finals on December 3. The championship match will also be on December 3. The entire event will be held at the Kissimmee Civic Center.
Asbury has qualified for the tournament for only the second time in school history after winning their first Mid-East Region Championship. They last qualified in 2005 where they went 2-2 in pool play and didn’t advance into the semi-finals. They will open against the third seed, Trinity Christian College on December 1 at 10 a.m. They will also face tenth seeded Southern Wesleyan on December 1 at 4 p.m.
On December 2 they will play second seeded Palm Beach Atlantic at 10 a.m. before wrapping up pool play at 2 p.m. against sixth seeded Dallas Baptist. The Eagles will face Trinity Christian, Southern Wesleyan and Dallas Baptist for the first time in school history while they lost their only meeting against Palm Beach Atlantic back at nationals in 2005, 3-2.
All matches will be streamed live on-line by the Game Plan Sports Network. There will be no charge for watching any of the matches. Live stats will be provided for every match and can be found at the link here.
Cal Baptist enters the tournament as the top seed and has been put into Pool A with fourth seeded Malone University, fifth seeded Grace College, eighth seeded Southwestern Assemblies of God University and ninth seeded Colorado Christian University. All ten teams will take part in a service project on November 30 before competition begins.
