Three Eagles Honored by KIAC

Lindsay IboldWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury placed three players on the All-KIAC Volleyball Team after rolling to a 14-1 conference mark and a share of the KIAC Regular Season Championship.  Seniors Lindsay Ibold and Dena Busse and sophomore Kelly Cole were all honored by the conference.

Ibold, a middle blocker from Cincinnati, Ohio, leads the NAIA in attack percentage at .419.  She also ranks 21st in total blocks with 136.  Her 399 kills lead the team and are the most she’s had in her four seasons.  She will become the 11th player in school history with 400 kills in a season this weekend at the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament.  Ibold is a three-time selection to the team.

Dena BusseBusse, a middle blocker from Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, is making her first appearance on the team after transferring to Asbury before last season.  She ranks third on the team in kills with 331 and is second with 112 total blocks, her 50 solo blocks lead the team.  Her 35 service aces are third on the team and her .379 attack percentage ranks second on the team.

Kelly ColeCole led the conference and ranks seventh in the NAIA with 786 digs, a school record for a single season.  The sophomore libero from Lexington, Ky. has also registered 46 service aces which is second on the team.  She is one of only six players in team history with over 1,000 digs, racking up 1,176 in her first 83 matches.

Asbury will take part in NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament to be held in Oakland City, Ind. starting on Thursday.  The Eagles are the top seed in the six-team field and will play Covenant (Ga.) College and Trevecca Nazarene in pool play with the semi-finals and finals set for Friday afternoon.  The region winner advances to the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla. beginning on December 1st.
