Volleyball Rolls to Eighth Straight Win

Brittney RaderOWENSBORO, Ky. – Asbury volleyball continues to roll as they swept by Kentucky Wesleyan and Brescia on Tuesday 3-0 in both matches.  The Eagles have now won eight straight matches overall and an astounding 22 straight sets.  With their win over Brescia they extend their KIAC win streak to 15.

The Eagles’ attack continues to pace the squad as they racked up 38 and 36 kills against KWC (3-3) and Brescia (0-4, 0-3 KIAC).  Over their last six games Asbury (9-3, 3-0 KIAC) is hitting .405 as a team and an even .300 on the season.  Against Brescia the team hit a season-high .523.

On Tuesday it was a group effort that led to both wins as eight different Eagles registered kills against Kentucky Wesleyan and nine against Brescia.  Brittney Rader led the team with nine kills in each match.  Lindsay Ibold tallied 15 on the day with no errors and Allison Rehner was also in double-digits with 13 over both matches.  Mackenzie Burke totaled 39 assists during the day.

Kelly Cole dug 24 balls in the match against KWC as the team got to 61 balls during the match.  Against Brescia the defense wasn’t need nearly as much as the team combined for only 25 digs. 

The Eagles will host an Alumni match on Friday at 6 p.m. before taking the weekend off from competition.  The will return to action on Tuesday September 13 at Berea.
