Eagles Continue Conference Streak

Sarah SterlingNEW ALBANY, Ind. – Asbury volleyball continues their dominance against KIAC foes, beating Indiana Southeast in four sets (17-25, 25-17, 25-18, 27-25) on Tuesday night.  The Eagles (17-4, 4-0 KIAC) have won 16 straight conference regular season matches, a streak that dates back to the 2009 season.

A slow start once again couldn’t keep the Eagles down as Asbury had only three kills in the first set, but a strong second set (eight kills, zero errors) got the Eagles back on track before winning a thrilling fourth set.

Lindsay Ibold and Allison Rehner led the team with eight kills each.  Sarah Sterling and Dena Busse added seven each as the team continues their balanced attack.  Kelly Cole dug a four-set-match season-high 27 balls against IUS (12-9, 5-3 KIAC).  Sterling also chipped in with 11 digs.

Mackenzie Burke added 16 assists and Jessie Bartlow had 11.  Ibold added four block assists, moving her to within three of fourth place on the school’s all-time list.  She is also just 26 kills shy of becoming the eighth Eagle in history with 1,000 kills.

Asbury will host Cincinnati Christian in another KIAC battle on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
