Eagles cruise on senior night

WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury locked up the top seed in the KIAC Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 win over Midway College on Wednesday night.  The Eagles improved to 7-0 in the conference with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-15 win on senior night.

Asbury jumped all over Midway from the start with a 12-3 run before a Midway timeout.  Dena Busse recorded three kills in four attacks in the opening set, and led the team with 11 kills in 16 attacks for the match.  Brittney Rader tallied eight kills including five in the third set. 

Senior Lauren Budde provided much of the offense in the middle set with five of her seven kills.  Fellow senior Emily Andrews led the way with 18 assists, five digs, and two service aces.  Hannah Wheeler continued her solid defensive season with a team-best ten digs.  Senior Kat Barennes recorded two kills and three digs.

Asbury will wrap up the regular season with one final home match on Thursday against Berea.  Game time was pushed back to 7:30.

The Eagles will head to the KIAC Tournament at Brescia University on November 12th and 13th as the top seed for only the second time in school history.  Asbury was also undefeated following the 2008 season and won the tournament, advancing to their first NAIA Opening Round match.
