Asbury heads to Mid-East Regional Tournament

Mid-East Region Bracket (pdf)

For the second consecutive year Asbury’s volleyball team was knocked out of the KIAC Tournament in the Championship game, and for the second straight year the Eagles will turn their attention to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament.  Asbury (32-3) will look to set a new school record for wins with only one more win.

The Eagles will be part of the six-team tournament hosted by King College in Bristol, Tenn. on Friday and Saturday November 19-20.  The tournament will consist of two pools of three teams each, playing a round-robin format on Friday followed by a semi-finals and finals on Saturday.

Asbury will be the #2 seed based on the NCCAA national ratings and be grouped with #3 King and #6 Tennessee Temple.  The Eagles will open against Tennessee Temple on Friday at 1:00 pm and will battle the hosts at 5:00 pm.  The semi-finals are scheduled for 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Saturday with the top two teams in each pool advancing.  The Championship match is set for 3:00 pm on Saturday.  The other pool consists of #1 Campbellsville, #4 Oakland City, and #5 Covenant.

The Eagles are making their second straight trip to the NCCAA Mid-East Regional.  Last year Asbury went 1-1 in pool play and lost a one set tie-breaker against Oakland City for the right to move on to the semi-finals.

The winner of the Mid-East Region will advance to the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla. from December 2-4.  Last year the Mid-East sent two at-large teams to the national tournament.  Asbury is currently ranked 6th overall in the NCCAA.
