Asbury Takes Two in Alabama, Improve to 20-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Asbury was unfazed by dropping the first to sets to the University of Mobile on Friday, bouncing back for a 20-25, 21-25, 28-26, 25-22, 15-9 victory in their first match in the Faulkner University Invitational.  The Eagles (20-1) won their second match of the day in three sets over Xavier (La.) University.

The Eagles got off to a terrible start against Mobile (8-5), hitting only .058 in the first set and only slightly better .179 in the second.  After that Asbury was able to recompose themselves in taking the final three sets.  Asbury improves to 4-1 in five set matches and overcame a 2-0 deficit for the second time in a week, they were also down 2-0 to Hanover last Saturday.

Asbury had far less trouble with Xavier (4-16), defeating the Gold Nuggets 25-14, 25-6, 25-18.  The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday for day two of the Faulkner Invitational as they play Spring Hill College at 2:00 pm est and the hosts at 6:00 pm est.  The match against Faulkner will be broadcast live by their Sports Information staff and can be heard by the following the link here
