Asbury Dumps Colonels

Rader had 10 kills to help the Eagles beat Centre 3-0 on Tuesday.WILMORE, Ky. – After their 18-match winning streak was snapped on Saturday the Eagles bounced back with their second straight 3-0 victory, this time over Centre College on Tuesday night.  The win pushes the Eagles’ home winning streak to seven.

Asbury (22-2) did not have their best offensive match on Tuesday hitting only .160, but that didn’t matter as Centre was even worse with an .062 attack percentage.  Lindsay Ibold and Brittney Rader were both in double-figures with 11 and 10 kills respectively.  Ibold had no errors and hit .550 for the match.  Dena Busse added eight kills.

The Eagles won the first set 25-19 but had opportunities to put the Colonels away before letting them back in.  Asbury would take the next two sets 25-15 and 25-22 despite hitting .051 in the third set.  Emily Andrews and Mackenzie Burke added 15 assists each and Hannah Wheeler had a season-high 25 digs.

Asbury will travel to Mountain State University in Beckley, W.Va. on Saturday for a tri-match with the Cougars and Davis & Elkins College.  The Eagles will play at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
