Volleyball Schedule Released
Wilmore, Ky. – Asbury University volleyball coach J.P. Rader has released the schedule for the 2010 season. The Eagles will play 13 home dates including hosting two tri-matches during the year. Asbury opens the season August 27th at Tennessee Wesleyan, and their home opener is less than a week later on September 2nd as they host Union College (Ky.).
Asbury’s two tri-matches will come early in the season on back-to-back weekends September 18th and 25th. The first weekend they will host Mountain State University in a non-KIAC match and Pikeville College and on the 25th will welcome in Mid-Continent University and Kentucky State University. The Eagles will not host an invitational tournament this year but will instead head down to Montgomery, Alabama to compete in the Faulkner University Invitational October 8th-9th.
Rader’s squad will play seven of their eight KIAC contests at home this year, only traveling to Mountain State University on October 16th. The season’s first KIAC match will be September 4th when St. Louis Pharmacy comes to Wilmore. Despite the early start to KIAC play, the bulk of the conference games come at the end as Asbury finishes the season with five of their last seven contests coming against KIAC teams. Asbury will play six of their last seven games of the season at home.
This year’s KIAC Tournament will be at Berea College on November 12th-13th. The winner will advance to the NAIA Opening Round at campus sites on November 20th. The NAIA National Championship will once again be in Sioux City, Iowa from November 30th through December 4th.
