McMullen, Cole, Rehner Sign On

Wilmore, Ky. – Asbury University volleyball Coach JP Rader has announced the addition of three more recruits for the 2010 season, including two Kentucky All-State Selections.  Kelly Cole (Lexington, Ky. / Paul Laurence Dunbar HS), Cari McMullen (Paducah, Ky. / Community Christian Academy), and Allison Rehner (Wilmore, Ky. / West Jessamine HS) will join three other signees for Coach Rader’s first recruiting class.

An All-State Honorable Mention selection as a senior, Kelly Cole will play for Coach Rader’s second team in 2010.  Cole, a 5-5 libero/defensive specialist, was an All-State Honorable Mention selection in 2008 as well.  She was also named to the State Tournament All-Tournament Team in 2008 and 2009 and helped lead Dunbar to the second round of the KHSAA State Tournament in 2008 and 2009.  Cole was an All-District selection in 2008 and an All-Region member in 2009 as well as All-City selection and team MVP and Captain as a senior.  Cole is the only defensive libero/defensive specialist signed for 2010.

Cari McMullen, who will also play basketball at Asbury, was also an All-State Honorable Mention pick in 2009 for volleyball.  In addition she was an All-A State All-Tournament Team and KVCA State All-Tournament Team selection.  An outside hitter McMullen holds the school record for most kills after playing six years on the varsity squad.  McMullen was named to the 1st Region All-Tournament Team three times and the 3rd District All-Tournament Team five times.

Allison Rehner will become the fifth member of her family to play for an Asbury athletic team when she steps on campus in the fall.  Her father, Steve Rehner, played soccer and ran track for Asbury and is now the Men’s and Women’s Golf coach.  Her sister Emily played soccer and her two brothers Daniel and Jonathan are members of the men’s soccer team.  Rehner is a 6-1 middle and right side hitter that brings size to the Eagles’ attack.  She played for three years under Hannah Cook at West Jessamine and was an All-District selection as a junior.

Rehner and Cole were members of the TEVA Club team along with fellow signees Abi Wheeler and Mackenzie Burke.
