Volleyball Closes Regular Season With Win
Mayfield, Ky. - Asbury's volleyball team closed out the season with a come from behind win over Mid-Continent University 24-26, 25-22, 25-11, 25-13 on Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season. The Eagles have tied a season high with three straight wins, the fourth time they have done that this season.
Asbury (21-12) got a huge match from Tina Marye who racked up 18 kills on 36 attacks to lead the Eagles. Lauren Budde added 14, Lindsay Ibold had 13 and Emily Andrews and Brittney Rader were in double figures with 12 and 10 respectively. Julia Armstrong tallied a career high 56 assists, the 4th most in school history in one match.
The Eagles had one of their best matches on the season on attacks with a percentage of .329, with 70 kills and only 18 errors. The big difference in the match might have come on the defensive end as the Eagles tallied 85 digs. Leading the way were Andrews and Hannah Wheeler with 22 each. Asbury also added 12 total team blocks with Marye leading the way with two solo and three assisted.
Asbury will host the KIAC Tournament Friday November 13-14. The Eagles have secured the #3 seed and will play #6 Midway on Friday at 6:00 pm. If they will they will play the winner of #2 IUS and #7 Brescia Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second semi-final. The Championship will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday.
