Eagles Into Finals

Box Score

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury will play to defend their KIAC volleyball title against the same team they beat in last year's final after the Eagles beat Indiana Southeast 25-23, 25-13, 25-20 in the second semi-final.  Asbury will face Indiana East who beat Cincinnati Christian in three in the first semi-final.

Lindsay Ibold continued her strong finish to her sophomore year as she came up with her fifth straight double-digit match, leading the team with 12 kills.  Lauren Budde added 10 and Emily Andrews was right behind her with nine.  Julia Armstrong totaled 33 assists.  The blocking combo of Budde and Tina Marye came away with five block assists each.  Marye and Ibold each had two solo blocks.

Asbury jumped out to an early lead over IUS in the first game and IUS fought off seven set points before finally falling.  Asbury used the momentum from the first set to overpower IUS in set two and hold off another rally in set three.

Asbury beat IUS in the semi-finals last year before beating IUE in the Championship match, and look to do the same today.  IUE beat Asbury in the regular season 3-1 in a match played in the Luce Center.
