Eagles Advance Behind Ibold
Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury made it through on the first day of the 2009 KIAC Volleyball Tournament, beating Midway 25-14, 25-16, 25-17. The Eagles move into the semi-finals on Saturday at 1:00 pm against Indiana Southeast.
Asbury (22-12) committed only four errors in rout to a .355 attack percentage. Lindsay Ibold (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the squad with 11 kills and no errors in 24 attempts. Brittney Rader (Seoul, South Korea) was also in double figures with 10 kills. Julia Armstrong (Austin, Texas) tallied 36 assists in the match. Hannah Wheeler (Lexington, Ky.) led the defense with 16 digs.
The Eagles will look for their second straight KIAC Tournament Championship on Saturday. Last year they beat both IUS and IUE in the semi-finals and finals and will have to do it again to repeat. The first semi-final will pit IUE and CCU at 11:00 am and Asbury will face IUS in the second semi-final at 1:00 pm. The Championship match will be at 4:00 pm.
