Eagles Stumble Against Hanover, Split Tri-Match

Hanover, Ind. - Asbury volleyball couldn't quite pull off the tri-match sweep on Saturday at Hanover College, dropping a five setter to the hosts and beating Manchester College in four games.  The Eagles beat Manchester with game scores of 25-18, 25-14, 21-25, 25-22 and lost to Hanover 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 15-25, 7-15.

Asbury (16-10) had four players reach double figures in kills against Manchester with Lauren Budde (Taylor Mill, Ky.) leading the way with 14.  Lindsay Ibold (13), Tina Marye (10), and Emily Andrews (11) were also in double digits.  Setter Julia Armstrong had her 5th match with more than 40 assists with 42.  Hannah Wheeler led the team with 19 digs along with Andrews and Brittney Rader.  The Eagles had quite possibly their best defensive match of the season stats wise with a season-high 92 digs and 10 team blocks.  Marye had three solo blocks with Ibold adding two solo and two assisted.

The Eagles may have run out of gas against Hanover in their second match of the day.  Asbury won two of the first three sets before dropping the last two.  Ibold and Andrews led the team with 12 kills a piece.  Armstrong tallied 36 assists and Hannah Wheeler dug 21 balls.  Marye again would tower over the net with two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

Asbury will travel to Berea, Kentucky on Tuesday October 20th for a KIAC match at 7:00 pm.  Asbury won't return home until October 30th during Homecoming Week as they host Mountain State at 7:00 pm.
