Eagles Split Tri-Match
Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury earned a split on Saturday as they hosted a tri-match with Indiana-East and Kentucky Christian University. The Eagles dropped the first match to IUE in four, 25-17, 18-25, 16-25, 12-25 before taking down KCU in four 25-18, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17.
Asbury (11-7, 2-2 KIAC) took a commanding lead in match one against IUE, leading 8-0 and 12-3 before holding on for the win 25-17. The Eagles had 14 kills and only two errors in game one. Then it turned bad for Asbury, dropping the next three and fall to .500 in the conference. Junior Lauren Budde and freshmen Brittney Rader led the team with 11 kills each. Senior Julia Armstrong racked up 32 assists as junior Emily Andrews led with 13 digs.
The Eagles bounced back in their second match, defeating Kentucky Christian to improve to 4-2 at home this season. This time Andrews led the offensive charge with 13 kills while Rader and Lindsay Ibold added 10 each. Armstrong posted her 3rd 40 assist match this season with 41. Andrews and libero Hannah Wheeler each tallied 17 digs.
Asbury will host Midway College in KIAC action on Tuesday October 6th at 7:00 pm before hosting the Asbury Invitational on Friday and Saturday October 9th and 10th.
