Eagles Split Day One of Invitational

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury volleyball could only come away with a split in day one of the Asbury Invitational, beating Pikeville 3-0 and losing to Montreat 3-1.  The Eagles are hosting a 12-team invitational this weekend with action to come on Saturday morning starting at 9:00 am.

Asbury (13-8) didn't waste any time in defeating Pikeville in the first game of the day with game scores of 25-6, 25-18, 25-14.  The Eagles would then start off hot against Montreat, taking game one 25-14 but then struggled dropping the last three 30-28, 25-17, 25-21.

The Eagles' offense hit well with 45 kills and an attack percentage of .245 but it wasn't enough as Montreat came up with more plays in the end.  Lindsay Ibold continued to be extremely efficient with 14 kills, one error and 22 attempts, good enough for a .591 attack percentage against Montreat.  Lauren Budde and Emily Andrews added nine and eight kills respectively.  Budde also led the way with 21 digs.

Asbury will play St. Catharine's at 9:00 am on Saturday and finish off their portion of the tournament at 1:00 pm against Bryan College.
