Eagles Earn Split in Tri-Match

Wilmore, Ky. - The volleyball Eagles earned a split on Saturday as they hosted Mountain State University and Trevecca Nazarene University in a volleyball tri-match.  Asbury defeated MSU in four games, 25-20, 24-26, 27-25, 25-12 and lost to TNU in four 25-19, 25-14, 22-25, 25-23.  Trevecca beat Mountain State in three 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.

In the first match against Mountain State, Asbury used a strong offensive attack that saw four players reach double figures in kills, senior middle hitter Tina Marye led the charge with 14.  Juniors Lauren Budde and Emily Andrews were right behind her with 13 and 12 respectively, sophomore Lindsay Iblod registered 11.  Senior Julia Armstrong moved into the starting setter position and racked up 43 assists.

The Eagles had a more difficult time against the Trojans as only one player registered double figures in kills, Budde who had 13.  Armstrong tallied 35 more assists but the TNU attack was too much as they had three girls with 10 or more kills.

Asbury will hit the road next weekend, stopping in Oakland City, Indiana to take on the Mighty Oaks Friday September 11th at 6:30pm before travelling to St. Louis, Missouri to battle KIAC foe St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Saturday at 2:00pm.
