Eagles Drop Two in Shawnee Invitational
Portsmouth, Ohio - After winning their first match under JP Rader on Friday night the Eagles struggled on Saturday dropping matches to University of St. Francis and Shawnee State University 3-0 in both matches. Asbury falls to 1-3 overall and finished 1-2 at the Shawnee State Invitational.
Attack errors were in the problem in both matches as the Eagles had an attack percentage of .011 against St. Francis and .042 against Shawnee State. Asbury committed 41 attack errors in the two games.
Junior Lauren Budde (Taylor Mill, Ky.) was a bright spot against St. Francis with a team-high eight kills and an attack percentage of .227. Junior Libero Hannah Wheeler (Lexington, Ky.) led the defensive effort with 13 digs.
Emily Andrews (Deltona, Fla.) led the way with six kills against Shawnee State. Wheeler again led the team in digs with nine. Freshmen Hannah Moss had 16 assists against SSU after leading the team with 13 against St. Francis.
Asbury will have a week off before hosting a Tri-Match next Saturday September 5th against Mountain State University and Trevecca Nazarene University. Asbury will play MSU at 12:00 pm and TNU at 2:00 pm with MSU and TNU squaring off at 4:00 pm.
